Traditional braces and Invisalign® aligners both depend on the body’s natural ability to heal to successfully move your teeth into alignment. Over months of treatment, your mouth can be gently restructured naturally through persistent pressure.
Teeth are firmly rooted in the jaw. Because of this, moving them can take a long time. Accelerated orthodontic practices take advantage of the self-regenerative properties of the body to encourage teeth to make progress faster.
Faster Orthodontics
On average, a complete treatment using Invisalign aligners may take anywhere from six to eighteen months. Using streamlined methods, our dentists can accelerate natural tooth movement, shaving off weeks or even months of treatment.
Research has provided ways in which tooth movement can be accelerated while undergoing treatment from traditional or Invisalign braces.
How Fast Is Fast?
With accelerated orthodontics, you can have your straight smile results up to 2 times faster! We have two options for giving patients these fast results:
- Propel micro-osteoperforation device.
- Propel’s VPro™.
Invisalign Acceleration With Petrie Advanced Dental
We offer two options for orthodontic acceleration to appeal to as many patients as possible. No one wants to have their braces for longer than needed to get a beautiful smile, and we want to make sure everyone has the chance to get the treatment they want in the fastest time frame possible.
The Propel Device
This device is shaped like a pen and has several different settings that can be adjusted based on your oral health and treatment plan. It is a great tool to help your body’s natural processes work faster to give you the results you’re looking for.
Micro-Osteoperforation Procedure
- Examination: To prepare for the acceleration, we will look at your x-rays as well as feel where your roots are so we know where to perform the perforations.
- Anesthesia: To prevent you from feeling any pain, we will use a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable during the procedure.
- Perforations: Using the Propel device, we’ll form a series of tiny holes in the gumline. These holes will increase blood flow to the area which will encourage tooth movement.
- Healing: These holes are so tiny that it shouldn’t take you more than a day or two to recover from the procedure. There may be some swelling and soreness that can be treated with an ice compress.
Benefits of Micro-Osteoperforation
- Faster Treatment: When you get treatment using the Propel device, you can get your gorgeously adjusted smile back in at least half the amount of time it would normally take.
- Natural Regeneration: Your body is amazing! Why not let it do what it does best? Micro-osteoperforation encourages natural body functions to get faster results.
More Predictable Movement: By placing the micro-osteoperforations ourselves, we can guide and anticipate how your teeth will move so we can prevent any surprises.
The VPro™ Device
This treatment is a great choice for those who want to reduce the length of their overall treatment with the least amount of discomfort possible.
How It Works
The VPro™ device uses a method called High-Frequency Vibration (HFV) to accelerate tooth movement. It rests just over your teeth and vibrates. This gentle vibration can encourage tooth movement when used regularly.
How To Use the VPro™ Device
HFV can be used to complement your Invisalign braces. If you’re interested, we’ll give you your own VPro™ device to use at home. It’s easy to use:
- Turn the device on by pressing the white button on the bottom.
- Gently place the mouthpiece in your mouth and grip with your teeth – you don’t need to bite down very hard!
- The device will speed up the vibration after a few seconds.
- Leave the device in for 5 minutes.
- Repeat every day to use a new Invisalign tray every 7 days instead of 14!
